Kabul (BNA) Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen Minister of Information and Culture observed the progress of work on the archaeological digging of historic sites of Ainak Copper Mines.
While Mohammad Asif Ferozan advisor of the mines ministry, Mohammad Akbar Stanikzai Logar people’s deputy at the House of People and Abdul Qadeer Temuree head of the archaeology department of the ministry were accompanying him, Dr. Raheen observed digging of archeological sites near the Ainak Copper Mine and the temporary museum in which the historical relics would be placed.
Dr. Raheen during the visit said that Logar is one of the richest provinces in terms of having historic relics prior to Islam era and after the emergence of Islam.
Two townships in the province belong to the beginning of the AD century and even to the second century AD.
He added that these two townships are the Ainak and another located in Kharwar district while the Ainak area for some time is under technical excavations.
The areas located on the side of the Ainak copper mine will hopefully be excavated soon so that work on extraction of iron starts there.
Meanwhile, it is said that according to the Afghan and foreign archeologists almost 75% of work have been completed and the remaining includes repairing of the obtained relics and it is said that this area is the historic pride of Afghanistan.
Dr. Raheen appreciated the security personnel of the area who are accomplishing their tasks with honesty.
