Afghan Ambassador to Qatar Dies of Heart Attack

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Qatar Hakim Dalili died suddenly on Tuesday after being hospitalized on Monday, government sources have confirmed.

Officials from High Council for National Reconciliation told the media, that “his death is a big loss to Afghanistan especially as he had been actively involved in the peace talks process”.

HCNR spokesman, Faraidoon Khwazoon said, Dalili worked hard to make Afghan peace process a success, media reported.

Extending his condolences, President Ghani called the late ambassador a true servant of the country and people.

The president, as quoted in a presidential palace statement, said that during his last trip to Doha, the Qatari officials and Afghans residing in the gulf state were praising the late ambassador for his services. “His death is a great loss to the country,” the president said, as quoted in the statement.

Dalili was sent to Qatar in February of 2019, he served as Afghanistan’s Ambassador to the country.

The Afghan Ambassador completed his studies in Doha, and before stepping into politics he used to be a teacher.
