Indonesia Trying To Organize Ulema Conference On Afghanistan

Monday November 27, 2017

Kabul (BNA) Indonesia has pledged to facilitate an ulema conference through which general consensus is created among Muslim ulema in the world and region for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan.
Recently, head of Afghanistan High Peace Council (HPC) Mohammad Karim Khalili has paid a visit to Indonesia where he has met with officials of Indonesian Islamic Councils in order to attract the councils’ support to Afghan peace process. During visit of HPC delegation to Indonesia, the HPC delegation has met Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who said that his country would play its key role in the Afghan peace process. In the meeting, President Joko pledged to share his country’s experience of conflict resolution and ethnic diversity.
Also, in a joint statement issued at the end of the visit by HPC and Islamic Councils of Indonesia said that Afghanistan delegation’s visit to Indonesia had been successful as Islamic Councils of Indonesia has shown readiness to cooperate with Afghanistan and its people in connection with restoration of peace in the country. “In consideration to enduring peace in Afghanistan – along with role of ulema of the respective country, Indonesia is committed to supporting and facilitating a session through a general consensus is created among ulema of the world and region for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan and the world,” said the joint statement. Meanwhile, Indonesia has also declared its readiness to facilitate exchanging visions between ulemas of the two countries. Afghans are praising Indonesia for cooperation in restoration of stability in Afghanistan and convincing armed opponents to peace and reconciliation. Moreover, Afghans are sure that Indonesia as the biggest Islamic country and in consideration that the country has close relations with countries in the region and Islamic world can play effective role in solution of current situation in Afghanistan.
Role of Indonesian ulemas in solution of Afghanistan issue and holding a world consensus among Muslim ulemas from world and regional countries can expose intentions of those who have used Islam as instrument for reaching their wicked goals and will clarify that war in Afghanistan is not jihad and acceptable for Muslim ulemas. It is hoped that the Indonesian ulemas can work for restoration of stability in Afghanistan so the people of this country finally reach peace and live in a peaceful environment as other nations of the world. Reintegration mechanism and peace efforts and most importantly exchanges of visions and sharing experiences in connection with dealing with peace process are among the issues both countries will use in how to convince armed oppositions to join the peace process and resolve their problems through dialogues.
Over the last three decades, Afghanistan has faced with continued war and various problems, while its people seriously wish to live in a peaceful environment, but a number of neighboring and regional countries instead of honestly cooperating with Afghanistan to reach peace are creating disagreement and fraction among the Afghan people in order to implement their wicked plots.
