Wednesday October 26, 2016

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) reported on its predicted plans on addressing of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
The ANDMA is responsible and authorized to make all related offices coordinated and address the IDPs problems before advent of winter. Alhaj Aslam Syas, deputy of ANDMA said, ‘with the advent of winter, a number of our countrymen who are living in the capital, provinces and villages will face natural incidents and we are making effort to be ready in different areas.’ Fortunately, this year, the winter plans of the administration have been arranged and the related ministries have been informed on, Syas further said. Blocking of transit routes in winter is among the problems that are divided into two parts, first, villages’ transit routes and the other is the transit routes linking the center, provinces and districts with each other, he added. The cold weather in winter and blockage of routes will naturally follow diseases and the ANDMA is concerned on people health, Syas said, adding the ministry of public health should provide facilities to its clinics in villages for six months.
One of the most important issues is distribution of foods, as the ministry of agriculture and World Food Program (WFP) will coordinate with us in the respect, Syas went on to say. Furthermore, the Red Cross Society annually launches a food and clothing distribution program in the capital Kabul and other provinces of the country, he continued. Fortunately, the ministry of rural rehabilitation and urban development is also ready to transfer the foodstuffs that have been stored in its warehouse to provinces, he said. Likewise, in addition to ministries, a number of non-government organizations are ready to cooperate with ANDMA, he said. The ANDMA has provided a consensus plan so to be able to help the vulnerable people across the country, he pointed out. Replying a question, Syas said, ‘there have been money transferred to some provinces, for instance, 70mln afghani to Kunduz, 30mln afghani to Uruzgan and 33mln afghani to Helmand.’ Pointing to challenges before the administration, Syas said that insecurity was a great challenge before transferring foodstuffs to some war-hit people in some provinces of the country.
