World Leaders Praise High Turnout In Run-Off

Kabul (BNA) World leaders believe that the Afghan people proved their firm faith on democracy by casting votes in the run-off elections and no threats succeeded to undermine their commitments for voting. In a statement, the White House announced the elections a step forward and stated that the electoral bodies maintain crucial jobs in the coming weeks “The job of two electoral bodies would be curial in coming weeks, the US is committed on its promises to Afghanistan beyond 2014,” part of the statement said. Meanwhile, US secretary of state Senator John Kerry has appraised the courage and determination of Afghan people who defied threats and voted in the elections. He announced the polling a positive move toward a stable future. “The US will remain alongside the Afghan people; we expect that the Bilateral Security Agreement is signed in the near future, millions of Afghan constituting men and the women once again commuted to the ballot boxes and paved the way for a democratic transition of political power in the history of Afghanistan for the first time,” Kerry said.
US defense secretary Chuck Hegel also offered his congratulations to the Afghans national security forces on making the elections to be held in successful manner. In a statement issued from the Pentagon it was stated that the US looks forward to forge strong security cooperation with Afghanistan as our combat mission ends in the country by the end of the year. NATO secretary general Andres Fog Rasmussen has also declared June 14 runoff a historic event in Afghanistan. He offered his appreciations to the job of Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) that provided inclusive security coverage to the polling. Secretary Rasmussen said that the Afghan forces accomplished their tasks assigned for election security in a better way and outcomes of the elections must be fair and transparent as it hauls major significance on future of Afghanistan.
The British officials have also commended Afghan’s courage in the elections and have said that the Afghan people proved the world that the nation was determined to mark its future. “I hope that both candidates and their campaign teams show patience and rest the electoral bodies, the UK will work with anyone who wins the election,” British Foreign Secretary William Hague said. Several world countries have described the elections a big failure to the surge groups and a major achievement to the Afghan people. “We hope that the election process is completed in Afghanistan in a good way and the one who is selected by the people of Afghanistan take charge of the country,” Iran President Hassan Rouhani stated.
“The elections is a step toward a prosperous future, the Afghan people proved firm commitment for a democratic and peaceful future,” the Pakistani Foreign Minister said in a statement. In addition, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon also praised the Afghan people on holding the elections and said that the people said “No” to the violence. This comes at a time that the world community had linked post-2014 financial and moral cooperation to Afghanistan on peaceful transition of political power from one elected president to another and a number of important issues such good governance and serous war against corruption.
