Minister Jahani’s Message On Int’l Mother Language Day

Kabul (BNA) Language is indeed an important means for communication, thought, recognition and preserving the culture of a country is the basic element of the civilizations.
Existence of around six thousands of languages across the globe is the big wealth of the today’s humanity.
Each of the languages simply provides speakers the self-personality building opportunities.
Considering such facts, the United Nations Educations, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) named February 21st of 1999 as the International Mother Language Day, where since 2000 the day is being celebrated across the world.
The theme of the 2016 International Mother Language Day is “Quality education, language of education and learning outcomes.” The speakers of each language are home to a prosperous human society, that efforts in such fields are considered as crucial for Afghanistan. The Int’l Mother Language Day is being celebrated with diverse culture and languages in Afghanistan at the time that the values of the languages and diverse cultures help bolster the spirit of unity in the country. We are working for boosting of our language, enrichment of the culture and development of the country. On this occasion, I would like to thank all the writers, poets, artists and teachers of all languages that working for preservation of their countries’ linguistic wealth and wishing them all success in their working affairs. I would like to also mention on enlisting of the Pashto Language in Online Google translate tool that its news was revealed four days ago. Such step is indeed an important progress for Afghanistan and Pashto speakers. The Ministry of Information and Culture is committed to preserve the linguistic wealth.
