In a ceremony held on this occasion in Omid national center with participation of First Lady and a number of cabinet ministers and representatives of donor countries, President Ghani praised the first vice president and relevant ministries for their effort in creating the center.
Praising also the drug-addicts and their families, the country’s President said, “It is not simple and needs courage and the biggest courage for a drug-addict is to confess on his addiction and confess that he needs treatment and vocational work.”
President Ghani further said that the people of Afghanistan have welcomed this step of Afghanistan government and their welcome was for laying a foundation showing commitment of the government and nation to address this problem.
“When you see drug-addicts from near, their problem is not only addiction. In a society where family and social relations are deep, tolerating a drug-addict by parents is so difficult and this is the last phase of disappointment and going out of this stage towards hope is a very big step.” President Ghani said.
The country’s President added the hope was not a personal and family one, but it was national and they should believe that one day addiction would be ended in the society.
