Women, The Mirror of Affection

Saturday March 7, 2015
Kabul (BNA) The Holy Quran has attached high position to woman as the second chapter of Quran has been allocated to women and a lot of issues related to women have been discussed in several verses. The women humanitarian dignity and her position in family and society has particular place in Islam. But prior to Islam, the women didn’t enjoy suitable socio-political situation in China, Iran, India, Japan, Greece, England, Egypt, Sudan and Rome and were deprived of the right of heritage, education, business and partnership in social activities. But Islam and Quran have granted all particular rights to women. The Great Prophet of Islam, Hazart-e-Mohammad (PBUH) had always been emphasizing on respect of women as wife, sister, mother, and daughter and He himself was always kindly approaching them and suggested others to do the same. Even when he was at the agony of death, said, “Behave with women kindly because a faithful and pious spouse is the best gift in the world. Whenever you see to her, she makes you cheerful, whenever you are away; she protects your dignity and honor”. So, Islam has given women the right to shoulder social responsibility and play a clear and frank role in society and it has not restricted her area of activity in home. Allah the almighty has ordered the biggest social role and obligation to every male and female and that is “Wise and Verse” which is incumbent on all Muslim man and woman. Islam holy religion had accepted the human rights prior to every other religion and international treaty and fourteen centuries before, Islam had acknowledged woman’s humanitarian dignity and equality among people.
As the flower of the flock, the woman has been created as the mirror of affection and love, herald of kindness, manifestation of loyalty. On 8th March 1906 the worker women staged a protest rally against exploitation of children, lack of the right of vote to women. These rallies were staged in New York and Chicago cities but a number of these women were killed or injured by police. For the first time in 1910, an acknowledged woman from Germany Klarastgin suggested 8th March as the international women day and ultimately if was accepted by majority of the world countries and ever since, 8th March has been celebrating. In 1997 it was confirmed by the United Nations and today more than 190 countries of the world celebrate it each year. Since the reign of Late Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan, 8th March has been celebrated in our country except the Taliban regime. In the course of history the Afghan women have been fighting shoulder to shoulder with their afghan brothers. The first Afghan woman wrote a book called “Homayoon Nama”. Hundreds other Afghan poetesses are there whose names have been registered in the history with golden calligraphy including Rabia Balkhi, Ayesha Durani, Zarghoona Ana, Mastoora Ghoori etc. Today the Afghan women have achieved remarkable gains in socio, economic, cultural and political fields including private sector particularly, provincial councils, government department, and education, higher education, media, and security sector and so on.
