President Ghani: No Excuses in Revenue Collection

Kabul (BNA) The meeting of the National Board of Revenue, chaired by the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, assessed the existing problems in revenue collection, on Sunday.

At a meeting held at the Chahar Chinar Palace, the President expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) that could not meet its revenue collection target for the year 2020 and began his assessment and chaired several meetings on this regard, the statement from the presidential press office said.

President Ghani, as quoted in the statement, referring to the government’s financial commitments to the people of Afghanistan and the international community, said no excuses in revenue collection were acceptable, adding that all the problems and obstacles in this area must be eliminated.

The President instructed the Ministry of Finance to collect taxes from Kam Air, Roshan Telecom, Afghan Telecom, Oil and Gas Company, National Development Support and Operations Agency and all indebted governmental and non-governmental organizations as soon as possible, the statement added.

The president stressed that the Ministry of Finance should expedite its practical efforts to achieve the set targets within the framework of a clear revenue collection plan.
