Ataturk Hospital Upgraded, Dr. Abdullah Vows To Improve Health Services

Kabul (BNA) The 200-bed national Ataturk hospital was formally inaugurated in a ceremony held here yesterday.
In his opening remarks, the chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah thanked Turkey for its contribution in the field of children health, adding Turkey has contributed in different fields with Afghanistan including the health sector. Investment in health sector in fact is investment for the future of the country and healthy people of Afghanistan, the chief executive said, adding the government has been trying to improve health services in government hospitals. Ataturk hospital with the support of Turkey has been upgraded from 120-bed to 200-bed hospital. Speaking at the ceremony, the minister for public health Dr. Firozudin Feroz said that the Ataturk hospital after development to 200-bed hospital is equipped with all facilities including operation room and intense care room. Some 650,000 US dollars had been spent by Turkey for renovation and reconstruction of the hospital, the minister for public health said. Head of Turkish overseas development agency TIKA in his address said that an ambulance was also given to the hospital. Turkish Ambassador to Afghanistan in his address assured his country’s continued support to Afghanistan including health sector.
