Serious Fight Needed To Prevent Human Trafficking, In-Charges

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan Human Rights Commission (AHRC) activists said that human trafficking has changed in to a dangerous challenge in the country which needed a serious fight to prevent.
Abdullah Abed, the in-charge of the legal department of the AHRC said, ‘for the first time, the practical program to fight human trafficking have been proposed by AHRC to the government, based on which the government established the law on fighting human trafficking.’
In 1382, 33 children have been returned to country from Saudi Arabia, Abed further said.
AHRC was the member of commission to prevent human kidnappings and trafficking for one year, during which it provided a database and trained the security forces on their capacity building in the respect.
Meanwhile, Khwaja Ahmadullah Sediqi, professional member of the legislative department of the ministry for justice said, ‘according to the related law, the organs concerned are responsible to fight the ominous phenomena to prevent kidnappings, as well as they should bring the convicts to justice.’ The law to prevent human trafficking and kidnappings is about to be approved—a move that will decrease the rate of kidnappings and trafficking, Sediqi further said. In a message addressing the people of Afghanistan, Sediqi said, ‘the people of Afghanistan should get educated and try to help the country get rid of the ongoing challenges and lead it toward welfare, economic development and calm atmosphere.’
In fact, poverty and lack of people awareness on aftermaths are the main factors behind human trafficking menace, he went on to say.
Likewise, findings suggest that human trafficking has increased in Afghanistan, with 47 percent of the people call insecurities, terrorist groups’ threats and inattention of the relevant in-charges as the main reasons behind increasing human trafficking.
In the meantime, the civil society activists said that the government was responsible to make a specific mechanism to prevent human trafficking.
On the other, the ministry of interior said it has done much to prevent this action.
Jamaluddin, a member of the committee on fighting human trafficking of the ministry for interior said, ‘the criminal section of the ministry has arrested tens of human traffickers with fake documents so far and sent them to judicial organs.’
Fawzia Kofi said, ‘unfortunately recently, the human trafficking has increased and the reasons behind are insecurity, unemployment and rampant corruption.’ She asked the government to seriously step up in the respect. Based on figures, in 2015 and 2016, more than 300,000 Afghans have left their country to seek asylum in foreign countries.
