Kabul (BNA) Due to its historical background, hosting of different ancient cultural monuments, traditional products, popular handicrafts, Bamyan was nominated as one of the creative cities and announced as the first cultural capital of SAARC in 2015.
The ancient province of Bamyan has met all essential standards of the world creative cities network and is expected to be chosen by UNESCO and the network of the world creative cities as a member which is a great pride for Afghanistan. A number of Bamyan cultural elites managed to write 23 title books on different aspects of Bamyan on the occasion of first festival. Head of Bamyan provincial department of Information and Culture, Kabir Dadras said, “Following the announcement of Bamyan as the first cultural capital of SAARC in 2015, elites of Bamyan decided to write and publish 23 title books on Bamyan.
These 23 books were identified which cover Bamyan studies, geography, economy. Out of these, we managed to publish four books during the second festival and silk road events at a circulation of 1000 and the rest are expected to be published at the end of 2015 in Dari and Pashto and then in English. But, publishing of books in English requires sufficient budget and is time consuming but we will do our best. Dadras added, the four title books were funded from the budget of US$400000 allocated for the first festival. Beside these books we published thousands leaflets and brochures on the same occasion and distributed to local and foreign invitees. Karima Malikzada
