‘Biden to Share Details of Withdrawal Plan with President Ghani’

Kabul (BNA) President’s senior advisor and director general of Office of Public and Strategic Affairs Waheed Omer in a tweet late on Tuesday night said that troop withdrawal has been discussed between the US and Afghan governments repeatedly in the past, adding that President Biden is expected to talk to President Ghani in the near future to officially share details of the new withdrawal plan. “Till then, we will not comment on the details.”

The presidential advisor also said: “We will respect any decision taken by the US gov with regards to their troops. ANSDF has been defending our people with high moral past 2 years and have recently conducted close to 98% of operations independently. They are fully capable of doing that in the future.”

Meanwhile, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said on Tuesday he spoke with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to discuss the peace process and the upcoming Turkey conference.
President Ghani said on Twitter that they also spoke about the upcoming phone call him and US President Joe Biden.

This comes as President Biden will withdraw all American troops from Afghanistan in September 11, people familiar with the plans said, completing the military exit by the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that first drew the United States into its longest war,” the Washington Post reported on Tuesday.
