NPC Approves 8 Contracts Worth 2bln Afghani

Kabul (BNA) Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the National Procurement Commission (NPC) held meeting at the presidential palace yesterday, the president press office said in a statement.
The meeting approved eight contracts worth two billion Afg which include, procurement of 17 K9 security devices to check and control 32 security checkpoints in Kabul green zone, contracts on fortifications of a security post in Kabul green zone’s Maslakh road and Kabul 6th district police station, construction of Qala-e-Mousa to Bebe Mahro road, construction of Morgh Giran village’s road in Kabul lengths 14km, construction of Kandahar-Spin Boldak road in Kandahar lengths 40km, modification of supervision contract on Faiz Abad-Baharak project, as well as the extension of contract of the related road and six items Halal food for the Afghan National Army (ANA).
NPC rejected a proposed contract of the public works ministry on reconstruction of Rashidan-Nawor road in Ghazni and tasked the ministry to review the road’s standard construction with asphalt, the statement added.
Afterward, the meeting discussed the issue on inspecting companies and tasked the ministry of finance to step up on the companies’ works and present the report to NPC’s next meeting, the statement continued.
Then, Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, ministers of commerce and industries as well as finance and a lawmaker Qudratullah Zaki presented their views and suggestion on establishment of a market, exports national strategy, decrease in agricultural consumable items and some other related issues. Thanking the private sector on recognizing the problems, the president said the regional countries’ markets have been opened to Afghan exports, the statement went on to say.
