NATO Alleges Reduced Civilian Casualties

Kabul (BNA) The NATO source in Afghanistan alleges that civilian’s casualties have reduced almost 53% in the country.
The deputy operational commander of NATO said in Kabul Thursday that their assessment in the nine months of current year indicated a 53% reduction in civilian casualties after the air operations of ISAF in the same period of last year.
He added that in nine months of current year 202 civilians have been killed in Afghanistan while the hands of Taliban are involved in 12 times more than the NATO in killing of the civilians.
According to the NATO source, Taliban have killed 2400 civilians in this period while in the same period 426 civilians were killed last year.
This source of NATO stressed that their efforts towards further reducing this figure is being continued.
He emphasized that Taliban are responsible for 81% of killing of civilians in Afghanistan and the NATO’s responsibility reaches only 7% in this respect and that the Afghan military forces has only 3% of responsibility, but he did not say anything about the remaining 9%.
