Necessary Reforms In Procurement Process A Must, CE

Kabul (BNA) Chaired by Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, economic committee of council of ministers was held yesterday.
In the economic committee’s session, various issues such as information in connection with procurement process, reduction of products of coal industrial company, modality of city transport management in capital and provinces, report of delegation tasked to pay a visit Farooq Azam fuel company, procedure for addressing losses caused by fire in markets and manufacturing companies and addiction-related issues to narcotics and its social and economic consequences were discussed.
In the session, officials for ministry of water and energy by briefing related to national procurement system and its shortcomings, consequences and ways of solution considered fundamental amendment in the system as one of the dire needs, adding that projects would face serious problems in various sections unless amendment is brought to the system.
The country’s chief executive by confirming the report instructed head of secretariat for council of ministers to hold a joint session with participation of deputy ministers, representatives of national procurement and private sector until Thursday so that necessary reforms would be brought in this regard.
Meanwhile, in connection with proposal of coal industrial company, chief executive instructed that a join session should be held with participation of minister of mines, representatives of ministries of finance and economic, industrial union, chamber of commerce and officials of the company until Thursday and a final decision should be made after overall discussion in this regard. After delivering briefings by officials of ministry of transport and civil aviation and visions and suggestions of the committee’s members, chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah declared that city transport and addressing the issue needed serious review and asked officials of the relevant organs to share their particular plans and suggestions in coming session so that practical steps would be taken in this regard.
