District Chief, His Guards Arrested In Baghlan

Pul-i-Khumri (BNA) A district chief has been arrested along with three of his guards in connection with opening fire at protestors in northern Baghlan province, an official said on Sunday. 
A man was killed and two others were injured when security guards of the Nahrin district chief opened fire at them on May 21. 
Hundreds of people staged the peaceful rally against the district chief’s inability and failure to address problems faced by flood affected families. 
They called for the resignation of the district chief.  Deputy police chief Col. Syed Zamunudin Hussaini told BNA, the district chief, Gul Mohammad Sharafat, and his three guards were arrested on Saturday. 
A delegation was sent to the district to investigate the issue. 
President Hajji Mohammad Amin said the government should probe the district chief for firing at innocent people. 
Elsewhere in the province, two robbers dressed in police uniform were detained in the Dasht-i-Khwaja Alwan area of Pul-i-Khumri city, the provincial capital, and the deputy police chief told a news conference. 
Hussaini added the individuals wanted to steal a fuel tanker after overpowering its driver.
