Book Exhibition Opens In Parwan

Kabul (BNA) On the occasion of Book and the Book reading week, a book exhibition was opened by the directorate of information and culture of Parway in Charikar city yesterday.
According to BNA, in the exhibition attended among others by Parwan deputy provincial governor Shah Wali Shahed, director of information and culture department in the province Abdul Wahid Hashimi and a large number of writers and men of culture, dozens of books were put on display in 10 stalls.
Director of the information and culture in the province readout the message of Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen on the occasion of international book day and the book reading week.
In part of the message, Dr. Raheen said, “The ministry for information and culture of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan apprehends the importance that book and book reading unfortunately was very low over the past few decades and our youths read book less than the youths few decades ago and the ministry for information and culture has been trying to promote the culture of book reading.”
It also said that the ministry for information and culture has been encouraging the youth of the country for book reading and that is why the ministry by issuing licenses to book publishers and printing entities with easy conditions has paved the way for publishing books in the country and weaving custom duties from importing the books.
“I am happy that in the cultural friendly Parwan province where majority of poets and writers emerged from this land have been celebrating book week, after Kabul.
According to another report, to mark the book and book reading week, a book exhibition was also opened in Mazar-e-Sharif yesterday.
