Kabul (BNA) In 6th conference of cultural ministers if Islamic countries held in 2007 in Libya, the scientific, educational and cultural organization of ISESCO proposed and approved that in 2013 Ghazni be proclaimed as the cultural capital of Islamic world.
Ghazni is a famous city that during the reign of Ghaznavides gained a good name and famed worldwide. Shah Nama wrote that in the 1st Islamic centuries, this city was part of Zabulistan province and when it conquered by Safarides, Ghazni got developed more.
In 350 H.Q Ghazni proclaimed as the capital of Aluptagin, the commander in-chief of Samanides and governor of Khurasan and this city remained as his capital and the capital of his successors from among them Sobugtageen the father of Sultan Mahmound.
This added to its credibility. It the end of role of Sultan Mahmoud, this city was the center of a fiefdom that was reaching to India, Khwarazm and Sistan.
The wars and skirmishes occurred on the course of history, Ghazni saw much sufferings and today from all of its gardens sans a desert that Baihaqi commemorated it time and again has remained nothing and tombs of Sultan Mahmoud and Sobugtagen that are buried respectively in Ferozi garden and Afghan Shawl locality can be recognized. The tomb of Sobugtageen is contemptible, but the tomb of Sultan Mahmoud that named today as “Rouza” is praying place of people. According to the white board, this tomb is built during the reign of Amir Habibullah (1319-1337 HQ).
When 120 years have been passed since the death of Sultan Mahmoud (543) Ghazni was demolished and set ablazed by Alawudding Hussain Ghori that after this the latter famed as “Jahan Souz” or “Burner of the world” this city located 135 km far from Kabul and the high way of Kabul-Kandahar passes via this city and from the side line of the tomb of Sultan Mahmoud. The ancient city of Ghazni is located as the northern part of new city and a Bala Hessar is built in it and a large and ancient ditch surrounded this city. Great number of scholars lived in this city that Abul Fazl Baihaqi, Hakim Sanayie, Unsuri, Manusheri, Masoud Saad Salman, Ali bin-i-Osman Hajwiri and others are famed from others. In the course of previous one thousand years, this city is targeted by invaders several times that one of them took place during the invasion of Great Britain that in a wonderful event, the latters transferred the great wall of the city to India so to retaliate the move of Sultan Mahmoud. According to minister of information and culture, Dr. Sayed Makhdoon Raheen, this city is not important because of conquests of Great Sultan Mahmoud Ghaznavi, but the importance of Ghazni is hidden in transferring of sciences and knowledge. Existence of great Sultan caused that Abu Raihan to find his way to India. Proclamation of Ghazni as the capital of Islamic world culture stem from existence of much historical sites in this city that in pre and after Islamic periods was from among important cultural and political centers in civilization zone, 44 historical monuments are existed in this city.
The ministry of information and culture rehabilitated the historical monuments of Ghazni from among them the tomb of Sultan Mahmoud Ghaznavi. Ghazni is one of central cities of Afghanistan. In surrounding areas of this city, some poets and scholars of Afghanistan are buries and the ruined places of ancient Ghazni, the capital of Ghaznivides are located at north eastern part of this city. The minarets of Ghazni are belonging to 12th century AD. These minarets are the remnant of Bahram Shah Mosque. Selection of Ghazni as the Islamic cultural center is a great opportunity that Afghanistan not only can build one of its great historical cities, but it can build and rehabilitated its historical monuments as well and attract the attention of tourists to this ancient and historical city.
Our people should know that this pride not only belong to Ghazni but is related to all Afghanistan and ask that the government opponents to refrain from destructive and armed moves during holding of festivity of proclamation of Ghazni as the cultural capital of Islamic countries and permit the name of Afghanistan be grafted beside the names of other Islamic countries.
