VP Saleh Praises Japanese Supports to Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) First Vice President, Amrullah Saleh met with newly appointed Japanese Ambassador for Afghanistan, Takashi Okada here in his office yesterday, a statement said.

Both sides discussed ongoing situation and the peace process in the country, the statement from the VP Press office added.

VP Saleh, as quoted in the statement, welcomed Japanese newly appointed ambassador for Afghanistan, thanking the country’s commitment in Geneva Conference and continued supports to Afghanistan.

Meanwhile ambassador Okada said that besides commitments made in Geneva Conference, his country to continue financial supports for Afghanistan, the statement added.

The First VP also met with acting Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, OCHA here in his office on Monday.

“Thank you Vice-President Amrullah Saleh in Kabul for excellent meeting. Strong support for UN humanitarian response. Spoke of need to strengthen implementation capacity, importance of all Afghan civil society, HDNexus & protection of IDPs,” UN’s Ramesh Rajasingham tweeted.

“My pleasure. It is always energizing to meet & work with those who care for humanity. Visit us more Rajasingham. Your experience of being in Afg in 80s and 90s gives the UN a precious context & memory. Let’s not let 90s repeat,” the first Vice President retweeted.
