Govt. Decisive In Fight Against Corruption

Kabul (BNA) Officials of the chief executive office have said that the government was loyal to its commitments before decreasing corruption and would decisively continue fighting against this phenomenon.
In a meeting with a SIGAR senior official, Chief Executive, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said that the government’s main focus was on corruption high-profile cases, in which the justice and judicial organizations would independently act and address them. At the same time, welcoming the government efforts and steps on fighting corruption, John Sipko, a SIGAR official stressed that not only his entity but also the government of the US would support Afghanistan’s moves in this regard. He added that reforms in military and non-military sections are key in forming a sound leadership and administration and SIGAR will continue cooperation with the government of Afghanistan to achieve its goals. Lawmakers and experts believe that all national and international entities should be mobilized to curb administrative corruption in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, welcoming the government step on establishing of the Justice and Judicial Center, lower house of the parliament said that the entity should neutrally review the corruption cases and does its best to win the people trust.
Mohammad Abduh, a member of the parliament’s justice and judicial commission said, ‘however, over the last years, much have been done to uproot corruption in the country, but unfortunately, still Afghanistan is among the most corrupt countries of the world.’ Gul Ahmad Azami, a senator said, ‘curbing corruption is not an easy task and all people, national and international organizations should cooperate with the government of Afghanistan in this respect.’ Likewise, a number of experts believe that in order to maintain justice and rule of law in the country, we should seriously and decisively fight against administrative corruption. A political expert, Mohammad Haidar said that establishment of justice and judicial center and other related administrations were among the steps that would follow with positive results. He added that non-implementation of law, economic crisis, investment evasion, brain drain and decreasing international assistances are among the issues have been originated from corruption. The experts believe that fighting corruption will not follow with suitable outcomes unless all in-charge organizations seriously step up and practice the rewards and punishments culture. They stressed that the aim of the government and Attorney General Office is to offer better services to people. This is while that over the last fourteen years, many counter-corruption administrations have been established, but still none of them could bring a powerful corrupt to court.
