Kabul (BNA) Officials of the ministry for defense welcome Afghanistan-Russia agreement on intelligence information exchange.
Welcoming Russia’s cooperation with Afghanistan, deputy spokesperson for the ministry, Gen. Dawlat Waziri said, ‘all terrorism-suffering countries should jointly fight against terrorism to remove this phenomenon in the region.’ Waziri believes that Russia’s new cooperation with Afghan security forces is in the benefit of Afghanistan, it can also cause terrorism to be uprooted in the country. Meanwhile, the ministry of foreign officials announced that Afghanistan and Russia have agreed to exchange intelligence information with each other and a delegation for delivering warplanes and military equipment would soon be sent to Moscow. Calling Russia’s support from the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) important, experts say that the ANSF are well-familiarized with Russian arms, that is why its assistance in military section can be effective in foiling the enemies attacks.
Likewise, terrorism is not only a serious threat to Afghanistan but to all regional and the world countries therefore, the Afghan government should be supported in this respect. Head of defensive commission of the Wolesi Jirga, Iqbal Safi said, ‘Afghanistan is a terrorism victimized country. Therefore, the Middle Asian countries should practically step up with Afghanistan in fighting terrorism.’ The Russian officials earlier in a meeting with National Security Advisor, Hanif Atmar called on Moscow readiness to cooperate with Afghanistan in fighting terrorism. Political experts are also optimistic on role of regional countries in ensuring stability and fighting terrorism in Afghanistan, they believe that the Middle Asians countries, particularly, Russia is concerned on influence of terrorist groups in its borders. Therefore, if the neighboring countries honestly cooperate with Afghanistan, the Afghans will soon be the witness of ensuring security in the country. A political expert, Muradi said, ‘currently, Afghanistan’s northern insecurity has caused the Middle Asian countries to make effort to restore relations with Afghanistan.’
The great powers of the region, particularly, Russia should cooperate with Afghanistan to prevent increasing terrorist groups activities in its soil, Muradi further said. The government of Afghanistan has always said that terrorism is a phenomenon threatening all regional and the world countries, thus, joint fight should be made against it. Meanwhile, the citizens say that Russia should continue cooperation with Afghanistan, because, our people need this country’s assistance in fighting terrorism. This is while that Russia has always made efforts to play its role in Afghanistan as like as other superpowers.
