Heath Services Shortage Takes $350m Out of Afghanistan Annually

Kabul (BNA) The minister-designate for public heath Firozuddin Firoz has said that Afghans take $350m out of the country annually due to shortage of health services in Afghanistan. Briefing the House of People about his programs on Thursday, Firoz said if investment takes place on health sector, the flight of $350m annually would be checked and patients would be treated inside the country. He also said that poor quality medicines are imported in the country. Calling for halting operations of some medicos, the minister-nominee said that there are 14,000 pharmacies in the country while the number of pharmacists is about 4000. He also stressed for strict checking of medicines and taking measures to provide necessary medical services to the countrymen inside Afghanistan.
