Women turnout in presidential election supports acceptable poll

The presidential election is scheduled to take place on 5th April 2014. There are two diverse perspectives regarding the next year`s elections. On one hand, people raise voice over the security threats that could overshadow transparent poll and on the other hand, the election is considered as an important event for sustainable peace and security and development of democratic institutions. Among the apprehensions, low turnout of the women in the election process is also a great matter of concern to the Independence Election Commission of Afghanistan (UEC) and fear exists that women in insecure provinces of the country may not succeed to cast their ballots in the polling process. Secondly, during the previous elections, the successful candidates that contested the election with the slogan of women rights protection failed to honor their commitments sought before the nation. Undoubtedly, women constitute half of the society and the women had played deceive role in the previous elections, but, large numbers of women remained deprived to cast their ballots. Preparations for holding of presidential election are now on its highest stage and it is national obligation of every Afghan citizen to cast votes in the election and mark destiny of their country with their own hands. The (IEC) has announced that in the second round of voter registration process, the election organizing body has undertaken comprehensive measures to facilitate the women register their names and take part in the polling easily. The IEC has demanded from the women and girls who are eligible for elections to register names and participate in majority in the election. Meantime, the women have demanded from the election candidates to fulfill their promises after getting victory in the election and allow the women to play constructive role in socioeconomic opulence and democratic process. Contribution of women in the election has major importance for development of the country and it also legalize acceptable poll to the nation and international community. The people of Afghanistan have now realized that who keeps what motives from the elections; they have attained political maturity to cast ballots in the right way and to an appropriate candidate. In the last eleven year, women of Afghanistan despite confronting major challenges and threats played significant role in various filed including politics, economy and culture. In the view of current situations, the people of Afghanistan including political parties should join hands and avoid disagreements so that stability of the country is conserved.
