Ghori Cement Factory To Secure 80% Of Afghanistan Need In Next Three Years

Kabul (BNA) Ahmad Zia Massoud, Special Envoy to President on Reforms and Good Governance met yesterday with officials and shareholders of Ghori cement factory.
In the meeting, Merwais Azizi, one of the factory’s shareholders spoke and said, “Ghori cement factory has 21 shareholders and more than 1500 people are working in the factory, adding 1200 tons cement are produced daily in the factory.”
He said in the new phase the factory would produce nearly 6000 tons cement during the coming three years.
Azizi added 8400 tons cement was daily consumed in the country, while 7200 tons were imported from Pakistan.
By activating the second phase of Ghori factory 80% of Afghanistan cement would be produced.
Following, Massoud asserted that the National Unity Government was strongly supporting domestic products of the country.
According to another report, Special Envoy to President on Reforms and Good Governance in a separate meeting with development director for Germany embassy Christina Totzaka and officials of GIZ to Kabul said Kabul citizens were facing serious shortage of water in the city.
Massoud further said construction of Shahtoot dam in lalander and completion of construction work on Shah-wa-Aroos dam in Shakardara district would address shortage of water in Kabul city.
In return, development director for Germany embassy to Kabul assured of her country’s support from infrastructural programs which could maintain drinking water to Kabul citizens.
