ANDSF; Symbol of Afghanistan’s national unity

Thursday February 28, 2019

Kabul (BNA) 9th of Hoot coincided to 28 February is the day of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) and considered as proper day to praise and admire the loyalty, braveness and sacrifices of the forces. 9th of Hoot coinciding with 28th of Feb is a day which belongs to all the people of Afghanistan and on such a day, the motherland needs full support of its sons. Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF), who are the brave sons of this land, are full ready to defend and protect all values with full impetus and commitment. They deserve to be fully supported and their services should be admired as Afghan defense, security and intelligence organizations are symbol of national unity regardless of tribe and language. Each member of the ANDSF is in the service of Afghanistan and doing his or her duty with full honesty. Marking the ANDSF day is an opportunity to not only admire services, sacrifices and efforts of the country’s defense and security forces but to specify and address problems and challenges facing the forces.
The year which is about to end was a challenging year for the country’s military forces as they fought terrorist groups in critical situation with little equipment but responded most of terrorist attacks in various parts of the country.
Afghan defense and security forces have stood to bravely defend all values of the country, but they have faced with a range of problems and challenges too. Lack of equipment in battlefield, lack of foodstuffs, no timely supplying to soldiers and others have been a range of challenges facing ANDSF in the past. Now, Afghanistan government in particular defense and security organs are working hard to tackle and address all the respective problems. Afghan Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) need continued support of the government and people. Selection of a day to admire ANDSF and their services can be an opportunity to renew commitments to ANDSF, but it is not sufficient. The country’s defense and security forces deserve further support. In the past 17 years, the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) have developed into a collection of professional institutions that are both committed to their mission and highly respected. However, they still face major challenges in key areas of capacity, such as logistics, air power, and intelligence. It is worth mentioning that since the announcement of Milestone 2013 on 18 June, the Afghan defense and security forces have been taking the lead for security across Afghanistan. They now plan and conduct larger and more complex operations. They are also taking increasing responsibility for missions of combat service support, including medical evacuation and route clearance operations.
