Aibak (BNA) Police in Samangan province have recovered 228 kilograms of drug from a truck and arrested two suspected individuals, an official said on other day.
Police chief of Brg, Gen, Mohammad Baqir Masoud said the recovered illicit substance included 132 kilograms of hashish and 96 kilograms of opium,.
The contraband was recovered from a truck in Aibak, the provincial capital and two suspects from Baghlan had been arrested in connection to the drug smuggling. Recently, police recovered 59 kilograms of hashish and 23 kilograms of opium in Aibak. The substance was smuggled from Baghlan to Balkh province.
The cultivation of poppy and drug trafficking has become a huge concern for the people in Afghanistan where the number of drug addicts reached to three million.
