President Ghani, CE Abdullah Meet NATO Secretary General

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General here in Arg yesterday and exchanged views on matters relating security situation in Afghanistan and bilateral cooperation, the President Press Office said in a statement.
The NATO Secretary General in the meeting, appreciated the Afghan government over its commitment in fighting corruption and bringing peace and stability in the country, the statement further said. Describing 2015 as a difficult and tough year for Afghanistan, NATO top official said that the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) after assuming security charges in 2015 demonstrated their ability in professionalism to stabilize peace and security in Afghanistan, the statement added. Participation of air force in the military operations of the Afghan security forces speaks of its capability, the NATO official asserted. He also reiterated the NATO cooperation with Afghanistan, adding NATO is committed for its cooperation with Afghanistan and would continue to help Afghanistan in fighting terrorism. President Ghani thanked NATO-member states and other countries contribution in the NATO-led Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan and also paid tribute to all the alliance soldiers sacrificed their lives in this country.
In his address, the president said that last year was the year of Afghanistan’s survival and the Afghan security forces defended their country, adding the ANSF are law obedient force and respect human rights during military operations. The coming Warsaw conference of NATO is important for partnership with Afghanistan in the years ahead, the president noted. According to another report, Chief Executive, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah also met NATO Secretary General and expressed gratitude over the alliance cooperation with Afghanistan in the war on terror. In the meeting matters relating cooperation in the fields of military, security, electoral reforms, war against corruption and ensuring human rights in Afghanistan were also discussed. Similarly, President Mohammad Ghani received the National Directorate for Security (NDS) chiefs of districts of Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul, Bamyan, Ghor and Badghis provinces here in Arg the other day. The president after listening to the presentation presented by acting chief of NDS, Massoud Andarabi, listened to the proposals and suggestions of the districts spy officials, stated that all the districts should be secured and peaceful, because, government’s objective is providing peaceful environment to citizens.
