Sikh, Hindu Delegation Calls On President

Kabul (BNA) A delegation of Sikh and Hindu citizens from Kunduz, Nangarhar, Khost, Ghazni and Helmand provinces called on President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday.
According to presidential press office to BNA, speaking on behalf of others, senator Anarkali Hunaryar, lauded the steps taken by the president and announced support.
In her speech, Hunaryar besides briefing the president about grabbing the properties including religious ones by some powerful individuals also called on the president to facilitate the Hindu and Sikh children to get education.  She also said that the Hindus and Sikhs had played important role in Afghanistan’s economy before the wars but had left the country due to three decades of instability, calling upon the government to pave the ground to those living abroad to return to their homeland and invest here. For his part, the president said, “You are the citizens of this country and the government is ready to solve all of your problems.” The president also added that in the 1394 fiscal year, some money will be allocated to the budget to construct protective wall on the historic water resource in Surkhrod district of Nangarhar province. President Ghani also noted that the door of Afghanistan is open for national and international investors to invest here in the country, saying all the Hindus and Sikhs who are living abroad can return home and resume their economic activities here.
