Street Barriers Behind Increasing Air Pollution: Commission

Kabul (BNA) The High Commission on Air Pollution held its session with Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on the chair here on Thursday September 22 at Sapidar Palace, a statement said.
At the outset, the representative of the National Environment Protection Authority briefed the session on progress in collection of the clinical wastages, reduction of noise, evaluation of Gas and Oil resources and the air pollution in Jalalabad city. The NEPA official also went on saying that air pollution is increasing due to rogue display and illegal act of the owners of factories in Arghandi area.
The representative of the Ministry of Water and Energy also raised concern over using of River’s sand, adding such acts harms the rivers, asking the Chief Executive to take legal acts against them.
The Chief Executive instructed the Ministry of Interior to prevent illegal act of those using river’s sands as well as instructed the NEPA to further coordinate on prevention of air pollution with Nangarhar’s officials.
The meeting also called cement barriers and concrete walls behind increasing air pollutions, saying that the security barriers should be transferred inside the compounds and behind the walls so that to reduce traffic and the air pollutions.
