Ashraf Ghani to take Oath for Second Term as Afghanistan President

Kabul (BNA) Mohammad Ashraf Ghani to take oath as the president of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for the second term in coming days, sources told medias yesterday.
Meanwhile a commission has been established to make arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony, according to a presidential decree appeared in social media yesterday.  The presidential decree has appointed Matin Bek, director of the Independent Directorate of Local governance (IDLG), to lead the commission.
Parwan Provincial Council Chairman Ghulam Bahauddin Jilani, acting foreign minister, chief of army staff, deputy director of the National Security Council, acting head of the administrative affairs office, senior presidential advisors Wahid Omar and Shah Hussain Murtazawi are members of the commission.
Ministries of defense, interior, transportation, the National Security Council, Kabul municipality and other offices have been asked to cooperate with the commission.
Last week, the Independent Election Commission announced the final results from the September 2019 presidential polls after delays due to rigging claims.
The commission declared incumbent President Ghani as the winner, saying he had been re-elected with 50.64% of votes for a second term in office. President Ghani’s main rival Abdullah, who finished second with 39.52% of votes, contested the result and declared victory.
