JALALABAD CITY (BNA) While military operation is ongoing in Shirzad district, eastern Nangarhar province, military officials say most parts of the district have been cleared from existence of anti-government militias so far.
The military operation has started one months ago by participation of hundreds Afghan national army and Afghan national policemen with coordination of Afghan air forces in Shirzad district.
Sylab army corps by releasing a statement issued that, dozens of terrorist hideouts belonged to Taliban fighters have been destroyed and hundreds different type of mines have been discovered and defused during the military operation until now.
Afghan security forces are deploying military bases after capturing areas during the military operations, the statement added.
Residents of Shirzad district are expressed their pleasure regarding stationing of military bases in various parts of the district.
The residents demanded from government to resume governance and reconstruction in Shirzad district.
