Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani paid a visit to Shamshad television network, during which he met a number of its in-charges and staff, his office said in a statement the other day.
According to the statement, the President offered his prayers up to the souls of those who lost their lives in a terror attack targeting the TV network few weeks ago. Also, he lauded the bravery, patience and forbearance of the staff and victims’ families.
The President said, “Shamshad TV is a national network which reflects a transparent and powerful voice of the nation. Protection of this voice is the duty of the entire nation. This is a national asset. It is the responsibility of the entire nation, government and particularly of mine to protect you.”
President Ghani appreciated the leadership of Shamshad TV network and said, “With a staunch faith, determination and team, you quickly resumed your coverage conveying your voice to the people.”
Officials of the TV thanked the president for his visit. They also appreciated the president’s sympathies with the victims’ families and his stress on the proper treatment of the wounded.
They also thanked the president for his support for empowerment of freedom of expression and free operation of the media.
They emphasized, “We are carrying on with our functioning in the realm of freedom of expression, protecting our values and the national interests. No hurdle can silent our voice.”
