Exclusive Workgroup Meeting Held

Kabul (BNA) In the presence of First Lady Rula Ghani, the first Exclusive Workgroup Meeting on human rights, good governance and immigration held in the ministry of foreign affairs on Saturday, Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported.
At the outset, economic cooperation deputy minister for foreign affairs Ms. Adela Raz called the meeting’s issues key to government’s agenda on reforms and improving socioeconomic section, BNA further said.
Afterward, calling signing agreement on Afghanistan partnership and development with European Union (EU) one of the government of Afghanistan and EU’s significant achievements, the country’s First Lady Rula Ghani said the agreement would provide the ground for cooperation between Afghanistan and EU.
Stressing on political debate, she stated that human rights and women rights are one of the key specifications of the agreement, the agency added.
EU’s deputy to Asia pacific said, “EU would not only be a financial supporter in all sections particularly in human and women rights, but it would also politically support Afghanistan.”
She added supporting human rights, women empowerment, rule of law, good governance and strengthening democracy are part of the four goals of EU strategy on Afghanistan.
Interior minister Wais Ahmad Barmak, attorney general Farid Hamidi, head of independent administration reforms and civil services commission Nadir Nadiri and some other government high-ranking and international officials were present in the meeting.
