Peaceful Afghanistan Important For A Secure, Stable Region: Presidents

Kabul (BNA) The quadrilateral summit of presidents of Afghanistan, Iran, Tajikistan and Pakistan held Thursday at the side line of Nawroz World Festival held in Kabul.
At this summit which was held at Arg, views were exchanged on issues pertaining to regional cooperation and security joint threats.
Laying emphasize on importance of regional security and repulsing of joint security threats, the presidents stated that if the security in one of the regional countries be threatened, other countries also would not remain safe.
At this summit, the presidents expressed their concern over threat of terrorism and extremism in the region and asked for joint measures and expansion of security cooperation among these regional countries. The leaders of four countries laid emphasize that peace and stability in Afghanistan is important for peace and stability in the region and all world society and evaluated its maintenance as joint responsibility of regional countries.
They expressed their support from national peace process led and owned by Afghanistan according to the constitution and national interests of this country.
The heads of states of Afghanistan, Iran, Tajikistan and Pakistan laid emphasize on continuation of regular political relations among their countries and said that expansion of these ties can further strengthen regional cooperation.
They resolved important implementation of basic projects of electricity, gas and rail way for promotion of regional cooperation capacity and laid emphasize that extension of rail way via Afghanistan to Tajikistan, Iran and Pakistan has more impact on regional countries’ economy.
President of Tajikistan Imam Ali Rahman invited president of Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan to attend at the annual meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) that to be held in current year in Tajikistan.
