Dozens Of Afghan Refugees Forcibly Deported from Pakistan

JALALABAD (BNA) Pakistan has deported Dozens of Afghan Refugees from its country claiming to not have a legal residence permit.

These Refugees yielded to the Afghan border guards at the Torkham crossing on Wednesday.

Pakistani border guards had deported 24 Afghans for not having a residence permit. Syed Ghazi Ullah Hashemi, the commissioner of the Torkham crossing, said to BAN.

He said the Afghans were in Pakistani prisons and, as a result of their efforts, were released and returned to Afghanistan.

Thousands of Afghan refugees have long lived in Pakistan without legal residency permits.

Reportedly Many Afghan refugees were detained and held in custody by Pakistani police in that country.

Efforts are underway to repatriate these Afghans said the Torkham crossing commissioner.
