Dozens of Literacy Schools Built to Boost Education in Helmand

LASHKARGAH (BNA) OCHA International organization financed dozens of literacy schools in support to boost education and people getting access to education in Helmand province.

The schools built will provide opportunities for hundreds of different ages citizens to learn to get educated.

More than 70 percent of Afghanistan’s population does not have access to education and millions of children are deprived of access to schools.

The program work construction of literacy schools in Helmand is launched by the Department of Education with the financial support of the OCHA organization.

Recently 300 people including 90 females voluntarily attended a teacher test in support to strengthen the program.

Head of education department of Helmand Mawlawi Mohammad Hawaz Ansari told BNA that among the volunteers, one hundred and five with the highest scores would be recruited as teachers in newly built literacy schools.

He said soon after completion of construction’s works the buildings would be replaced to educational centers for children and other different ages.
