MoPH Rejects New Polio Cases

Kabul (BNA) Acting Minister of Public Health has rejected new polio cases in the country.
In an interview with BNA, Acting Minister of Public Health, Dr. Ahmad Jan Naeem said, “BBC radio on its recent program has reported that new polio cases have been recorded in Paktika, Khost and Ghazni provinces. Dr. Naeem said no polio incidents had been recorded in the country since the beginning of 2015, adding that four incidents broadcasted by BBC radio had been recorded on 7th, 8th and 9th months of 2014. He asserted that moving of tribal families from the other side of Durand Line to a number of the country’s provinces had caused recording of new polio cases in the respective provinces in 2014. According to directorates of public health of Paktika and Khost provinces, most of tribal families moving to the provinces were not acquainted with polio, he said. Dr. Naeem further said MoPH is determined to continued implementation of polio vaccination on tribal families’ children moving to the respective provinces. A number of polio vaccination’s phases have been implemented on the families’ children so far.
