President Karzai Meets Presidential Candidates

Kabul (BNA) Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met yesterday with presidential candidates Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai at the presidential palace. Presidential press office stated BNA, at the meeting held with participation of Vice Presidents, they discussed on date of oath taking ceremony of the new president.  During the meeting, presidential candidates were asked to further cooperate in connection with acceleration of the vote audit process so that the swearing-in ceremony of the country’s new president would be soon held. President Karzai said that the Afghan government was completely ready for holding oath taking ceremony of the country’s new president, asking the candidates to make necessary efforts in this regard.
Participants at the meeting asserted that delay in the election process had put negative impacts on all dimensions of people’s life in particular security, economical and government works and it was needed that the process to be completed soon. It is worth mentioning that first 2nd August had been fixed for holding oath taking ceremony of the country’s new president, but the date was postponed for a month upon the request of UN and presidential candidates.
