Work on Kajaki Dam to be Started Soon

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani arrived in southern Helmand province and met provincial officials on Sunday, BNA reported.
The president, after hearing suggestions and complaints from the officials and elders of the province about lack of markets for their agricultural products, lack of schoolteachers, construction of Kajaki and Farhad dams, activation of Bost Enterprise and the like, said work on Kajaki dam would be started soon and other problems would be addressed through the related organs, the agency said.
He said one of the Turkish companies has pledged to invest on the dam with the cost of $175 million as the dam has been estimated to reserve one billion cubic meter water in the province.
The president as quoted by the agency said the families of martyrs would be provided with aids through a monetary fund in which, he himself would support it from his own budget.
He also asked for enlisting journalists lost their lives in the province in order their families were provided with assistance.
Other suggestions of the provincial official officials, he said would be followed through video conference.
President Ghani lauded the Helmandi people for their mass participation in the election process and said that those creating challenges and obstacle in the process has stood against the law and their president.
According to him, the 215 Maiwand military corps is getting strengthening and reforms are being implemented in the police ranks that would help decrease insecurity all over the country.
