President Karzai Casts Ballot

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai appeared at a polling station here in Kabul casting his votes for presidential and provincial councils’ elections at Amani High School on Saturday. 
According to presidential press office to BNA, the president after using his ballot, called the process vital and great fate making event for Afghanistan, the presidential palace said in a statement.  “Today is a vital and national destiny making process. We, the people of Afghanistan should elect our next president and provincial council members through exercising our votes in the fair and transparent process.”
“As an Afghan citizen, I do this with pleasure and proud”, the statement added hoping the process could help the country step up towards stability.
He said the move to attend the historical voting process would bring a good gift for both us and our offspring. He appreciated the people for remaining patient under the heavy rain for using their votes at ballot boxes and helping their country embrace success and tranquility.
First-Vice President Mohammad Younus Qanooni also went to Amani High School and used his vote, calling the process a destiny making event for the people of Afghanistan and their children. He hoped the people could go to the polling stations and elect their next leader through unbiased exercising their votes in favor of their own chosen nominees.
The ballot process for presidential and provincial elections began amid heavy rain and security threats with wide scale participation of the people across the country.
