Abdullah Asks For Government’s Single Media Strategy

Kabul (BNA) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in a meeting Thursday with government high ranking spokesmen instructed for a single government press strategy in the country.
In the meeting, Dr. Abdullah said for prevention of negative propaganda of insurgents, providing necessary facilities to media and ending distance between the government and people, it was necessary to set up a comprehensive and national press strategy and specify key policies in connection with delivering messages to the people of Afghanistan.
Chief of Executive briefed the government’s civil and military press officials related to problems and challenges in this field and suggested necessary amendments in this regard. The government officials for media and public relations enumerated their key problems as lack of structures and resources, lack of necessary facilities and inconsideration to capacity building section.
They asked the Chief Executive for necessary instruction in addressing their problems and providing necessary facilities to the government media officials.
After hearing the problems Chief Executive promised to work on addressing the problems and follows the issue as government priority.
Dr. Abdullah further said the government needed to further work on section besides other government operations and it was necessary that the government media section should be improved along other sectors. Chief Executive tasked the general directorate of media of his office to work with relevant organs on a single media strategy and specify the government key media policies.
