The introduction part of the UN Chart points out that the member states should make effort to protect the future generations from war and work on humans’ fundamental rights, equalities among nations and respect to international commitments. The main objectives of the UN is restoring lasting peace, international security, joint steps against threats, stopping of violence, solving international disputes through peaceful ways, implementation of justice and intergovernmental laws. Likewise, bolstering friendly relations among nations, respecting principle of equality and creation of necessary measures on strengthening peace around the world is also among the objectives of the UN Charter. Establishing international cooperation to solve international problems apart from any kind of discriminations is also among the UN aims.
The UN Chart also states that the agency and its members will step up based on mentioned aims. The UN Chart also states that the member countries should prevent any types of threat in their international relations and other steps which are in contrary with the agency’s objectives. Furthermore, the UN Chart states that based on mentioned regulations, the agency is not allowed to interfere in other country’s domestic affairs.
There have 71 years passed since the UN Charter came into force, therefore, this day should be globally observed as a destiny-maker day. In his recent remarks on revising commitments, the UN Secretary General said, ‘if the UN wants to end violence in heart and thought of everybody, it should promote tolerance and forgiveness, ensure the principle of equality, protect the human rights and decrease poverty.’ The Afghan people are thankful to UN which has assisted them over the last more than three years and is now making effort to maintain, security, stability, peace and democracy in the country. The Charter of the United Nations (also known as the UN Charter) of 1945 is the foundational treaty of the United Nations, an intergovernmental organization. It was signed at the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center in San Francisco, United States, on 26 June 1945, by 50 of the 51 original member countries (Poland, the other original member, which was not represented at the conference, signed it two months later). It entered into force on 24 October 1945, after being ratified by the original five permanent members of the Security Council—the Republic of China (later replaced by the People’s Republic of China), France, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (later replaced by the Russian Federation), the United Kingdom, and the United States—and a majority of the other signatories.
