Electricity for Industrial Parks Will Be Supplied from Coal

KABUL )BNA) Presided by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister, the Economic Commission after a detailed discussion tasked related ministries including the Chamber of Commerce to take practical steps to generate power from coals.

The Ministerial meeting of the Economic Commission presided by First Deputy Prime Minister, has been tasked Ministries of Water and Energy, Mines and Petroleum, Industry and Commerce, Energy and Water, and Chamber of Commerce to determine joint priorities based on coal volume and power requirements and then start practical work in this sector. Said a statement.

Earlier, the Economic Commission of Afghanistan (ECA) called on the government to suspend the import of substandard petroleum products into Afghanistan and the consequent damage to human health and transportation.

State-owned oil and gas company exclusively plans to import crude oil from other countries. Added the statement.

According to reports: Afghanistan needs almost 4.5 million tons of oil and 656 thousand tons of natural gas annually, which is mostly imported from Russia, Iran, and Central Asian countries an estimated net shows $ 6 billion in oil imports in the year 2021.

An estimate shows Afghanistan holds 73 million tons of proven coal reserves as of 2016, ranking 62nd in the world, Afghanistan has proven reserves equivalent to 38.9 times its annual consumption. Added reports.
