Afghans’ Investment In Chahbahar Port

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan is a land lacked country and is a bridge between the central Asian countries and Oman Sea which connects Oman ports to these countries and Chahbahar can be the shortest and safest way to this destination. At present about one hundred Afghan trading companies have been introduced through the ministry of commerce and industries to this port and are operating.
Ali Rahimi advisor of Chabahar commercial, Industrial free zone said in the last three years, the Afghan traders invested over $60m in this zone and the Afghan traders enjoy good marketing talent and have occupied bazaar from their Indian and Iranian rivals. Chahbahar free zone is no doubt one of the important free zone of the Islamic Republic of Iran that due to its regional, international strategic location provides better trade opportunities to businessman.
Rahimi want to say, taking into account its capability for distribution of commodities to neighboring countries it could be used properly in this region. Facilities provided by IRI in free region of Chahbahar for investors and traders, facilitates trade and investment, as quick express and cheap prices of goods can be useful to Afghan  traders.
Afghan traders said that if the Iranian authorities allow Afghan traders to load convoys inside Iran, most likely, the local traders would relocate their loading ground to Chahbahar port.
According to authorities of Iranian Chahbahar port, probably this problem would be solved by Iranian authorities, because the IRI has invested mulit-billion dollars for utilization of Chahbahar port and planning long term investment.
Beside Afghan traders, some Indian traders have also invested in this port for transferring of mineral mines India.
Yusuf Bado advisor of chief of director of investment affairs of  free region of Chahbahar said, based on available agreement, Chahbahar free region will become soon a bridge between Afghanistan and other countries. A memorandum of understanding will be soon inked among Afghanistan, Iran and India so based on which Indian and Afghan traders could easy transport their products the Afghan traders and investors can lease land for 50 year in cheap price in Chahbahar free zone. He expressed hope that this free zone would open a new chapter of friendship, trade and economic development between Afghanistan and Iran. Construction of an airport, land motor way and a railway in free zone of Chahbahar would be major activities for creation of trade and investment facilities.
Chahbahar commercial, industrial free zone has been established in an area of 198 Hectare land south of Iran near Oman sea.
