Kabul (BNA) The consequences of SOM or the senior officials meeting which supports the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as the Afghan authorities and international diplomats claim was a great success to Afghanistan.
Discussing on the issue the BNA commentator writes that recently Kabul hosted the meeting of donor countries with the participation of delegates from 70 countries and international organizations. The aim of the SOM was to hear the report of Afghanistan about its commitments made in London conference almost ten years ago. In London, conference the participants while presented their conditional support from Afghanistan in security and economic fields. Based on the conditions the Afghan side should carry a constructive struggle against administrative corruption, efforts for self-economic sufficiency and preparing a precise plan for collecting national revenues, restoring stability and improving the political process.
During Kabul meeting the Afghan authorities presented a report regarding implementing their commitments in practice made in London conference, the donors also assessed the implementation of their commitments made in that conference.
Ashraf Ghani the president of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan while inaugurated SOM explicitly said that Afghanistan was committed carry out structural and infrastructural changes and its international partners should comprehend the barriers on the way of ensuring security and improving political and economic situation in the country.
At SOM session, the Afghan finance minister presented a detailed report. He while expressing the endeavors of Afghan government regarding to collecting national revenues and counter corruption struggle, talked about 12 priorities for economic development of Afghanistan.
According to economic experts the report presented by Afghan authorities at SOM session had huge dimensions. The report while presented information about the implementation of commitments made in London conference it also clearly talked about the problems and creating barriers on the way of economic growth of Afghanistan.
At the meeting the Afghan finance minister considered the outcome of the meeting a success to Afghanistan. The UN special envoy to Afghanistan, said that the participants of SOM were consent to performances of Afghan government and European Union envoy to Afghanistan praised the activities of Afghan government.
According to Afghan finance minister, the donors’ summit will be hold in Poland next year. In that session, the participants will discuss the military support for Afghanistan. Following that, another meeting at foreign ministers level will be hold in Belgian capital Brussels. At Brussels session, the participant will discuss issue regarding to delivering financial aids to civilian sectors in Afghanistan.
Holding such sessions indicates that Afghanistan is still at focus of attention of international community. At the same time, the donor countries to Afghanistan noticed that the reconstruction and self-sufficiency of Afghanistan is a long-term process, therefore, the commitment for supporting Afghanistan will not be the end of the process. The Afghan government authorities are thinking about various fields to reach self-sufficiency and planning to achieve that goal. The authorities of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan are trying to collect the revenues, encourage outsiders’ investments in the country, disseminate modern agriculture, and ensure political stability and strengthening security forces wish to use the experiences of the countries passed throw the crisis and disputes.
