Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani chaired the 122th rotational meeting of the National Procurement Commission in which up to 13 new projects costing 1.6 billion Afghanis have been approved, in the presence of national and international observers, on Thursday.
According to a statement from the Presidential Palace, the projects covering procurement of schools’ materials including desks and chairs in Dykundi and Nuristan, fundamental maintenance of 35 kilometer Kabul-Jalalabad highway, connecting road of Herat’s Bande Salma Dam, construction of Zabul province’s 100-bed hospital and procurement of health facilities and hospitals of the ministry of public health have conditionally been approved.
The projects also included some other provinces including Badakhshan, Takhar, Kabul and would meet some requirements of the ministry of defense, said the statement.
The procurement committee also emphasized on the implementation monitoring of the project, according to the statement.
Both President of the country and the national procurement committee with joint opinion stated that the last legal problem experience of Qaisar-Laman project shouldn’t be repeated about Band-e-Pashan and as the local people have suffered from the last projects, thus the recently underway procurement process should be dissolved and the ministry of water and power should take measure under the aforesaid proposal.
The National Procurement Committee, meanwhile, referred the proposed agriculture loans agreement to the ministry of finance, returned the modification of four contracts on food items of the ministry of interior ministry and approved one contract on vegetable agreement the ministry of national defense, said the statement.
Considering the observing principle of the committee’ sessions, national and international observers including the commission for finance and budget of the house of people, SIGAR and combined security transition command-Afghanistan (CSTC-A) of the Resolute Mission and Afghanistan Transparency Watch were also present beside the head and members of the committee.
