Fifty-Three People Died in Dasht-e-Barchi Explosions

Kabul (BNA) The death toll from the explosions in Dasht-e- Barchi, which occurred around 4:30 yesterday, has reached to 53.

It is said that most of the victims of these explosions were children who were leaving the school of Sayyid al-Shuhada.

In the first news, eyewitnesses said that six people died in these incidents. But according to unofficial sources, the death toll from the incidents has risen to 53.

Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Arian confirmed the blast in Dashti-e-Barchi saying that 35 injured people have been taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, Ali Khan Ehsani, the headmaster of the high school, said that first a Corolla car full of explosives exploded next to the health clinic attached to that school and then two explosions caused by planted mines occurred while the students of the school were fleeing.

Fifty-three people, mostly children, were killed and 40 others were injured in the blasts, unofficial sources said.
