First-Ever (Nor Nouawari) Prizes Distributed

Kabul (BNA) The first-ever prizes for Program Dewi or Nor Nouawari of the ministry for communication and information technology was distributed on Tuesday. Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony, the minister for communication and information technology Amirzai Sangin said the objective of the program at a cost of 5 million US dollars which is financed by the World Bank is to boost the utilization of mobile by developing information technology, saying the youth and people from all walks of life can present their suggestions and projects on how to use mobile service and the good initiatives will be given prize. Such initiatives, the minister said could bring positive changes in the works of government bodies. In this regard, he said that Afghanistan had made tremendous achievements in the field of information technology over the past 10 years with the hard work of talented youths of the country.
Minister Sangin added that Afghanistan through optic fiber had been connected with the world.
The electronic national ID card or Tazkira has been completed and the program for electronic governance is going on. He also said that nine universities of the country have been connected via optic fiber and the teaching system of all the schools of the country will be connected in future. Minister Sangin also said that work for electronic medication and electronic registration of the properties of government is underway.
