Saturday, August 27, 2016
Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani called Wednesday evening’s terrorist attack on the American University of Afghanistan a cowardly attempt to hinder progress and development in Afghanistan.
Condemning the brutal attack, the President said: terrorist groups, by attacking civilians, educational institutions, residential areas, culverts, bridges, electricity stations, and peaceful demonstrations of citizens, want to obstruct growth and strengthening of the values that Afghans believe in to achieve progress, prosperity and well-being of a dignified Afghanistan.
The President added: terrorists, and their sponsors should know that the people and government of Afghanistan will continue on the path that they have chosen despite the hardships, and they will overcome all the challenges. Attacking educational institutions and public properties and targeting civilians will not only fail to shake our determination, but will further strengthen it to fight and eradicate terror.
President Ghani commended the professional and responsible conduct and efforts of the National Security and Defense Forces for preventing further casualties and eliminating the terrorists. President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan conveys his deep sympathies and condolences to the families of the martyrs and prays for full recovery of those injured.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah said the Afghan people and their foreign allies were cooperating with the government in building educational institutions but militants and terrorists were destroying them.
CE Abdullah strongly condemned the attack and shared his deep sympathies with the affected families. Chief Executive praised the Afghan forces for their timely response to the assault and killing of the terrorists.
